Personal reflection on the english class

In this semester for me the  English class was very light because not only did we see the book all day or work on it alone, but we also used other tools such as videos, presentations, etc. What I liked is that we had no homework, which helped us a lot not to fill up with extra activities in the afternoon. The explanations were quite clear and what helped were the examples that came from the topics.

In general, learning online is heavy, because of all this sitting all day in front of a computer working on different things. This class was not so heavy in that regard because we worked well and the jobs weren't heavy. Sometimes because of all this that it is online, communication is lost and the dates for exams or quizzes were not completely clear.

Personal Reflection on Social Movements (writing)

Social movements

A social movement is a group of people who come together to fight for a purpose and in this way raise their voices on an issue. Some examples of social movements are like feminism, black lives matter that fight against racism, march for our lives that fight for gun control and there are many more. Why are social movements important nowadays? They are important for what they mean to people, they are that hope that we can improve as a society.

For me personally, social movements are something super important that in the end will change the world. The change may not be immediate but little by little the change will be reflected in the different generations. Social movements are the hope of seeing that as a society we are not completely lost, because there are people who continue to fight to improve what was previously ruined. They are something that inspire us that using our voice can achieve a common benefit, by having a fight that is day by day you can be part of what is going to save us as a society. It is the position that I decide to have on this issue.

There are tests in which this type of fight does have good results. We have the clearest example in the world which are the suffragettes, this group of women who came together to be heard, to be able to exercise their right as a human being and to vote. After some time fighting for this they succeeded and it is seen today that women can continue to be part of the democracy that governs our nation.

My point of view is that if it is worth being part of this, because maybe you will not see the change but future generations will. It is a way to help repair what our ancestors broke and having a voice and an opinion I feel the responsibility to occupy it during my life.

In Mexico, I would consider that one of the largest social movements there is is that of feminists. Simply due to the fact that we are one of the countries with the highest rate of femicides. Women come together to make themselves heard about this injustice and many more.

In conclusion the movements are symbols of struggle, courage and hope for the world, it is what has assured us that there is a future. They are a struggle where it is worth being involved, because there are already testimonies that if something can be achieved if people unite to achieve a common good.

AS FAST AS WORDS COULD FLY: Segregation

Racial segregation is the separation of people into racial or ethnic groups in society. This is a practice that has been executed since the beginning of time. Racial segregation has appeared in all parts of the world. In some countries, there has been occasional racial discrimination but not legal segregation. The civil rights movement was initiated in the 1950s and 1960's mainly because the African American citizens struggled to get their justice and equality.

Mexico is a country with a very rich culture, making each citizen a proud reflection of it. It's very obvious the segregation in our country just by looking at our map we can see the division of classes. Most cities that have been urbanized and the adaptation of new international cultures, due to this we can see the separation between the population. Mexico City, the capital of our country, is one of the most diverse cities, we can see areas in which the social comparison of economic classes is pretty obvious. In the South part of the country states like Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas have been left out of many developments that the government has done unlike the states located in the North and Center.

This still happens because it has been practiced since many years ago. Although as history advanced the idea of racial superiority has decreased there are still people that believe this is an ideology.

We concluded that despite the years and the struggles that this movement has gone through against racial segregation, it is still very noticeable today. So we agree that somebody has to change and that somebody has to be the society in general. Because it doesn’t affect a certain group but it also affects all of us. What we came up with to help this problem, not only in Mexico but throughout the world, is to talk about the issue, make it noticed and explain why it is not right and why we need to stop doing it. Talk about why this is unfair and we (all) need this to stop, and not only speak about it in our homes but also schools. So with this, we can be educated, and change the future generations.
